hi all, finally posting after a little lurking. Thought i share the news that i have spec'd a new 997 gt3 for a late july build.

After much pondering, finally decided (almost) on the following:

Atlas Grey with painted wheels
pcm
sound upgrade
xenons
dimming mirrors (my eyes are very sensitive)
tpm
lightweight buckets and club sport
cruise (speed cameras)
sport chrono
red tail lights

still unsure about the sport chrono (more for the pcm option rather than the timing - or the odd clock), but i like to thinks i got a nice mix for comfort and track.

also been told by opc that the car would be a 2008 model car due the late build prior to factory shut down, is this true? There seem to be no obvious changes for the 2008 gt3 models

any suggestions for other spec options, i have got 1 week to finalise.

Don't bother with sports chrono - complete bloody waste of time and money! Change to colour coded console though,

thanks for the replies

the chrono is the only part of the spec i am having seconds thoughts about, but according to the opc dealer, without may affect resale (smells like bs to me).

Do you need TPM? I was going to get this but knocked it off my list as I went for small carbon pack instead.
Really glad I did as the carbon pack looks bloody great and the TPM looks more trouble than its worth and requires additional maintenance.

its a new option where the entire rear light unit has a complete red lens cover, no white lens for the reversing lamp

with the tire pressure monitor, is always like it as safety net despite the false positive's it usally throws out

Have just been in to OPC Nottm to spec mine.
08 Allocation also, delivery Aug which means no factory collection available.
Base price has apparently gone up by approx £1k
Do not think anything has chaged in std spec but they do not know for sure.

Spec i decided on is:
White club sport with PCCB
PCM
Black leather interior and also rear centre console
Carbon door guards
Xenon lights
Mats
Sport chrono (Just like the look of this unit on dash)
Sound upgrade (Good value for money)
Cruise (For speed traps)
Dimming mirrors (Will be doing trips to mainland Europe so some night driving)
Red belts (Look good against black interior)
Tyre pressure monitor (Safety at high speeds)

Think i got carried away but in the scheme of things
the decision to go with PCCB's is the big one.
The last 6 items were not on my must have list
but hey it's not all about the money.

Not sure what you mean by red rear lights?
I wanted the sports footrest but not available on RHD.

Look fwd to comparing thoughts/photos in Aug

nice spec, toyed with pccb - but felt gains were not worth the intially and future costs

the red rear lights is an all red lens, no clear lens for the indicator or reversing light of the rear lamp units.

Which parts of the console can be colour coded
The spec says rear centre console colour coded but actually it is basically everything from the gearstick backwards.

As for resale values being affected by missing the sports chrono, do me a favour!! I agree, total BS.

Enjoy anyway, a mega car what ever spec you get.

Thanks.

Not sure about painted wheels only because its not the whole wheel.
Did enquire if i could get black wheels like RS but NO.

I will ask OPC about the rear light lenses.
Do you know the cost of this option?
I was hoping that it would get LED rear lights like my M3 but i guess not.

Red belts (Look good against black interior)

Yellow belts also look good with the black interior, and will match the PCCB's.
I'd also 2nd the small carbon pack, and if you fancy a roof antenna it's a no cost factory option, yes something from Porsche for nothing !!

Problem is with clubsport the yellow belts clash IMO with the red racing harness.

Fair enough with red harness the red belts would look better than yellow. PCCB's a big decision but really glad I went for them too - so far anyway !

WRT PCCBs, roughly how many track days p.a. will you be doing?

Not many if any.
I drive a Radical SR3 on track
which gives me all the speed thrills i need.
The PCCB's are excellent for road use and since this is a second car which may be left standing
for weeks at a time no rust is a big +.
