I've got the CDR22 system in my boxster with the nokia speakers and amp. I've been reading on other forums about upgrades peope have carried out, many seem to recommend and have installed Rainbow speakers. However, I must admit, i don't want to spend that much on upgrading the speakers.

Has anyone on PH upgraded their speakers, if so, to what?

That's interesting. I've got a 2000 model 996 with a CDR22 with 'upgraded' speakers and amp, but it doesn't appear to be a bose ? Are they all Nokia then ? Not overly impressed, so hoping to upgrade too to a new head unit at least and, possibly, to new speakers. Not sure the amp adds much compared to modern head unit output powers of 4 * 50W ? Any suggestions gratefully received too.

I replaced all the speakers in my 996 C4S, using MB Quart 4" units and tweeters fabricated on the existing bracket for the full stealth look. I replaced the bass units with 5.25" Infinity Kappa units. A massive improvement smile

On my GT3 I did the same again with the fronts, didn't bother with mounting the tweeters on the rear pods. Again much improved although I do miss the bass I had with the C4S.

Just tested the Infiniti Kappas 47i in mine... superb front speaker upgrade over the OEM paper cones... crystal clear, amazing range, precise bass, although bass output is still limited being a 4" speaker...

Mind you, always quite hard to hear the stereo over the K400 orchestra! driving
