My 997 Gt3 has horrendous brake squeal and after 2k miles it is showing no signs of improvement. My OPC has told me it is incurable. Have any of you guys had the same problem and if so any cures? I have tried hard braking but this only temporarily fixes the issue. It is really annoying as it is pretty much perfect in every other way.

I had a GT3 for the weekend last week and it did the same. It had 9500 miles on it if that makes any difference.

hate to say it but I had the exact same problem with mine.Ultimately I got lucky and swapped it for a cancelled order clubsport car with ceramics which is perfect but the steels on the comfort car I had first squeaked horrendously and nothing I tried to fix the problem worked...

Are they 'steel' or 'ceramic'?

I've only driven 997GT3s with pccbs and they were all very quiet. However, the 996GT3 I used to drive (on steels) was a bit noisy.

What pads are on the car?

Most 'race' pads e.g Pagids and the like always squeak.

my discs on my mountain bike squeek also if that helps. A good tug on the brakes usually gets rid of it short term...

My 997 RS has steel discs & has covered 1300 miles & I have not heard a peep out of the brakes, even after a track day. I will be changing from OEM pads to pagid RS29's I am expecting them to squeal.

I have done 11000 miles in mine, which has the steel brakes and have had no squealing. They do groan a little if you press hard but I am advised that this is normal and nothing to worry about.

I agree, mine have occasionally squealed,. but some serious hard (but sensible!!)usage has ensured the squeals are kept at bay, well the brakes anyway the Mrs still squeals when I put my foot downsmile

Done over 3000 miles in my RS with steels and original pads and no squeeling. To claim it is incurable is utter, utter bullshit if they refer to the factory set up! I would guess the pads are glazed - i personally would tell them to think again.

I have just had RS29's fitted as I cooked the original pads on my 5th track day (Still did not squeel). so far, the RS29's are not even squeeling.

I have steels on mine. They made a few squealing noises around 300-500 miles but not all the time. Each time they did I stood on the brakes.
I'm now at 965 miles and i'd forgotton they'd squealed at all!!
