Appreciate a C4S cab tip is not for everyone but so far all offers for my car have been from trade buyers.

Why no private buyers - good spec., 'good' colour, full OPC service history, service and 111 point check in last 6m and 6m of porsche warranty.
MOT last week.

Trade offers not too bad and might end up taking one but seems such a shame when a private buyer could get the car at price far lower than they would pay to a dealer.

Looks like I might end up giving dealers yet more profit!

dont know, but would guess that private buyers tend to buy from dealers for warranties and more importantly finance...

This one?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/177705.htm

I would say it will help to detail any warranty, service mileages etc... For that sort of money I'd expect a bit more detail and effort in the advert.

ETA: See Ballcocks advert for one he's just sold.

Trying to be helpful...

Do not sell that car to dealers!

It's got plenty going for it ... Good colour , coming into the soft top season (whenever that'll arrive!!) , low mileage , warranty ... The works.

I'd have to agree with the (p1ss) artist formally known as Bliarout though. You need more detail , and more enthusiasm in the description , but above all you need MORE PICTURS!!.. give em a look at that sexy ass for starters!.. some views of the wheels , side on , offset rear etc. Give em something to drool at.. At the moment (and I know this isn't the case) it looks like you're trying to hide accident damage...

You could also try putting 'OPC warranty' into the title of the ad to catch peoples eyes.

Have patience , don't drop the price (too much!) .. It'll sell.

Thanks Ballcock - had real problem uploading pictures - will try again.

Probably not very enthusistic as I hate selling cars - would keep them all if possible as none are 'bad' - just not want I need now.

Will take your advice and try to 'market' the car!

Thanks to everyone who has tried to help.

£50k is one hell of a lot of money to hand over to a total stranger for a car. Admittedly it's a lot to hand over to a business but for various reasons people tend to feel much more secure doing it that way.

I agree with the previous comments about the ad, I'd go to the nearest bit of country/park and just get a few snaps on a nice day, I have no idea why but for some reason I always look at photos of cars on drives like yours and assume they aren't being driven daily and for some reason it puts me off (that's totally irrational I 100% accept that).

Know what you mean. It takes time. I ended up selling to a dealer as I needed a sale. £40K+ cars take a while to shift.

Selling an expensive prestige car privately isn't easy because so many people have part/ex, need finance and want the dealer trimmings and warranty.

However, it is possible, but you will need:

- A really good ad, in all the right places
- Car must be carefully prepared and look drop dead gorgeous
- History, documentation, etc must all be well presented
- Ideally it should have a decent amount of extended warranty remaining
- It must be priced attractively

Then, you just need to be careful you don't get mugged by fake buyers - tyre kickers, joy riders, car jackers, stolen bank drafts, etc.

Can be done though, and many do it. good luck.

It is a beautiful looking car, and I'm sure that all the points made above are absolutely correct - more photos and the car not sitting out on the dry in gloomy conditions would help, also Tip must a little more specialised. But nearly £50k is a lot for a private buyer to pull out of his pocket, and if it were me for that money I would be looking for a 997. Maybe a little unrealistically priced?

Having gone through the 'buy from dealer or private' options, I chose to buy from a dealer for the security aspects mostly and the price was good. I'd be wary on buying a 25K to 30K privately, but personally I don't think I'd buy a private one above that price unless I knew or knew of the person selling.
