The 997 GT3 Cups are noticably better in the wet than the original ones...

they are deeper to start with, and have wider channels running around them...so they
are far from scary, obviously you need to drive to the conditions...

The latest N spec 19" MPSCs are remarkable. I've driven in all weathers no problems.

However, they only start with 5mm of tread and have a pretty short life. By the time they get to 2mm, they will inevitably be less efficient in the wet. They are also expensive.

I would imagine that many owners will run on cups through this summer and switch over to one of the approved road tyres in the autumn.

i hit a whole load of standing water on the A2 with the cups on but no probs - the car was fairly new so i had around 4mm of tread

I've since changed to the Michelin pilot sport 2 - the handling with the cups are better though

I have mps'2 on and i havent driven it with the pirelli's it came with. Im hoping to change them over at the weekend for BH Monday but seems like a lot of bother. How would the mps'2 do a track day, anyone know?

Considering i dont drive on the road like im on a race track i doubt if i would find a difference bewteen the 2 tyres on public roads apart from one will last twice as long as the other.

The Cups and Corsas are a 'bespoke' sports tyre, around which the GT3 chassis was developed and tuned.

I think, on a car as tactile as the GT3, subtlties such as the tyre, brake or seat choices, are detactable in normal road use.

Having said that, an approved road tyre may be a lot more practical in terms of cost, tread depth, life expectancy and even rim protection.

What are the options besides PS2s?

Looks like im changing them over this weekend then. The other reason i havent rushed to was......... I was thinking of selling it.....

Its an amazing car and the best iv driven but..... I have buckets which are not the easiest to live with, i have to reverse park it on my drive which is down a one way street so i need to do a 3 point turn(can be a pain in a 1 way street). I really think its the drive though. Its such a pain everytime you go out i end up taking the other car. Maybe after BH Monday ill change my mind completely.

Hope so.

Aston owe me a big favour so i could call that in, but I just dont think there worth the money and i dont think they will be seeing premiums like the early V8's. Like the dragons say " I'm out ".....

You're probably right - mines a sensible spec. eg not over the top and it's not far off £100k!!!!!!!!! Mind you I've pre sold it after a few months summer fun for list so should be OK.
