Anyone at Oulton yesterday (May 30th)??
Discussion
Peter Cook was there testing his latest 911 - a special one off (AFAIK) 997 with extra wide bodywork (inc. batman-style louvred vents in the top of the front wings), 3.6 500+ bhp engine (NA), BBS wheels, enormous rear spoiler, sequential box and stunning RS Tuning exhaust (yes I did get down & look underneath when his mechanic suggested it - 'tis a work of art though). In plain metallic black it looked gorgeous
Went pretty well too
- I'll be certain to allow him plenty of room when he passes me in the combined Club Championship / Open race at Spa in 3 weeks time. Be almost a shame to put stickers on it.

The poor guy in the Blue 993 made me remember why I don't fancy tracking my 996. It was the first time I've driven at Oulton and thought it was superb.
I remember a couple of 997's, one was black with reg something like P6TA but can't specifically recall it.
The race prepared 997 and Fezza hooning around the place were something else.

He only came later on but they still managed to charge him for a whole day
I was there to show someone who'd never been on a circuit how to drive round it. He'd also bottled out of bringing his 996 and had instead bought an old Clio Williams for the job. He drove it quite well, but a lot better at the end of the day than the beginning
and had a great time. The car was superb too, no understeer, no overheating brakes, just impossible to select 2nd gear, but the gearing was such that it didn't really need it. It wasn't completely standard (don't know what's been done to it), but the handling and grip were excellent - tail out nicely a couple of times out of Hissy's chicane too
If you saw us out there, it was me driving when it was going quick!
It was a good day I thought, bit busy at times but most people did seem to be using their mirrors for a change.
