Just stopped into opc Exeter to pick some bits up for the gt3, happened to notice a speed yellow early 996 GT2 with ruf badges and other bits also sporting a piston heads sticker! I'm not one to take pics of cars on my phone but this crossed the line! Awesome car that works in speed yellow! So who's is it then?

P.s orange 997 rs out the back too ready for collection!

That'll be "drhildr", a VMAX regular. A stonking car with over 630bhp.

Was in Exeter OPC yesterday with my own GT3. Saw Wayne the technician fitting rads to your Ruf GT2. Bit of a tool if I may say.
Whats the chances of a go in it sometime ?
I'm in Plymouth.

Furthur to the above, Wayne had just completed the PDI for the 997 GT3RS.Another real tool.
Will be collected by a friend of mine over the next couple of days.I'm trying to persuade him to take it to Le Mans the week after next.

880nm which I think is thereabouts in old money - dyno print out always in the glovebox for doubters and a quick fire power demo seals the deal!

Posted this on another forum yesterday, most have been plenty of PHers at Exeter on Wednesday;
Spotted today at OPC Exeter: Ruf 996 GT2 variant with 630 hp conversion, kevlar interior, yellow half cage, Alcons F&R discs, Ruf yellow bird exterior colour. Getting serviced there.

Joked with OPC service about the merits of driving the Ruf home in the wet as it was raining p*rsist*tly and I was anticipating negotiating all those greasy roudabouts on the exits form Marsh Barton in my GT2 with only 485 hp on a light throttle - dried up by the time I went over Oakhampton crest of Dartmoor though.

Whilst I am firmly in the Ruf camp I believe that anyone who can get these numbers should be congratulated on their efforts - and if this is done at a reasonable cost and the car remains reliable then more power to their elbow.

Hi Hog 1!
You ought to come and try her out - with the Ruf suspension set up the "Yellow Peril" is very friendly to drive even in the wet.
David

PS - don't tell everyone as the myth should be allowed to persist!

Thanks very much Dave, suspension changes are on my list of things to do. When I know I will have some time back in UK, I will get in touch - off to Vietnam and then Egypt.[Work]

Did you get around to fitting mesh grilles to your car?
It must have been front rad day at OPC Exeter - my GT2 was there for same reason - that's the 3rd front rad it's had now although this last one just failed without any signs of external damage to the core.
Out of interest, does your Ruf car run standard GT2 rads?

Yes - I am on standard rads - though I wish they did them in kevlar or something more stone / corrosion proof!

I did see a neat, stainless steel mesh fitted quite simply with discreet cable ties at Exeter OPC - looking to track it down.

David, what does the RUF suspension set up comprise ?

P.S The rads leak irrespective of impact damage, they're just poor quality quite frankly.

Bilstein adjustables all round plus their own geometry which renders the car more GT3 like in it's handling. It feels really planted - the opinion of respectable others as well my own!
