Got an Origin B2 Solo - love it. No false alarms, user programmable sites and a laser detector that works a treat. Looks cool too.

Its not the cameras that are the problem. Its the radar guns. There is no protection from them as by the time a detector has registered the hit its too late to do anything about it. Only 100% solution is detector and an illegal jammer.
Also i think if the police stop you, they must be more inclined to book you if they see detectors in your car?
Hi Tracer, your dash must be crowded!

But can the talex/talex lite be hard wired into the car as in the road angel?

Bought a Road Angel Plus last week for my 997tt...installed well, good mounting...I am using the little magnetic disc which sticks just left to Chrono clock so without 'Angel does not look too bad. Loaded up well through PC, has 8hrs of battery life so no dangling wires to cigarette lighter which I hate (main reason for choosing this one)...has database and laser detector. Has the screen mount as well which I use in the family car...so far so good.

Why on earth would anyone buy a dedicated Speed Camera "detector" these days!!??

Buy a Tom Tom or a Garmin Sat Nav or whatever and simply download the latest camera database from PocketGPS and away you go.

If you want a laser detector for the mobile vans I suppose...

And...yes...I might be getting one having been got by a mobile van recently. And I know that a laser detector may well become illegal and I know that most often all it does is tell you you've been pinged but, hey...

the reason for me is the addition of mobile sites rather than fixed installations

hi troops

i use a origin b2 hooked in to a "garage door opener" and a stand alone "garage door opener" on the rear, and i find it a very good system smile

lazer detectors are a total waste of £££££ all they do is tell you you have been hit, hear the beep and your done if your speeding.

cheers robin.

I have been grateful for the laser detectors I have run for the past god knows how many years. What you forget is that these will pick up signals that have been bounced off other vehicles too. I can recall at least 2 occasions where the device has beeped, I have slowed down and a trap has been revealed round the corner. For belt and braces I really cannot see a reason not to use one.

i have used an origin B2 with a jammer in the last 3 cars. great piece of kit which actually works.
tom toms are useless IMO as they dont tell you which side of the road the camera is on.

Auto Express winner was Talex Lite. I find it both really useful and sometimes really annoying as it's not the most charming female voice. However it is very good. It has never missed a static camera. It is very useful in an 'average speed detection area' - where it tells you to slow down if you creep over the limit. Also, a few times it has alerted me to 'possible mobile camera site ahead, limit x mph' - and there's been a police car parked there.

If you're lucky you'll still be able to get one from Aldi for £59.99. Don't buy 3 year subscriptions. Subscription is better on a year to year basis. I initially bought one year, and have just renewed when they e-mailed me an offer of 15 months for the price of 12.

To the one who said why buy a camera only facility and not a sat nav. Well if you need sat nav to find your way round the UK..... laugh
