Spent ages trying to figure our which exhaust to go for, all the usuals, but to be honest they all seemed to offer the similar gains, so choice seemed hard, ended up going for the Designtek (200cell) one, for £995, just to see! At that price it was a punt that if totally wrong I could change without huge worry, but it ended up being a cracker, pretty well made, ok, not as pretty as Europipe, but 1/3 of the price! Guys are Fearnsport were pleasantly surprised smile Also got them to put some Bailey DV's on with a remap from the mapper (Gary) which includes the 'oneclick' type unit that holds stock/performance/valet maps.. All VERY reasonable priced with excellent service and work from Fearnsport smile Some pretty tasty kit parked around....

Didn't worry about getting it dyno'd, we all know figures aren't spot on, with whats done it'll be around +60bhp/+80lbs, which is plenty...

The difference in feel is astounding, when I first got the car I was a little underwhelmed to be honest, fast, yes, but not as big a jump as I'd hoped...

Now its like it should of been. Spools up quicker, regularly sticking @ .9 bar instead of mainly .6. Mid range gain is huge, also 5th gear now feels like 4th! Not to mention the sound, when you use WOT the exhaust changes from bass to blast, intoxicating smile...

Now looking forward to driving it again, at last some buzz..

I can now understand the lures of the GT2...

Sounds good. Glad you are enjoying it. If you wait a minute AdamT will be along to ask if it's got 620lb-ft [LOL] Of course you could have chose one of the renowned German tuners to carry out your modification and all for only three times as much money too !

Cheers

Nice one, Guyvert, enjoy.

Finger fairy, me, 'fraid not smile

O/T - Allan, nice one, not. Nice pot shot, makes all the efforts people made in the 620 thread to discuss tuning worth it.

clap THANK YOU allan, this post perfectly and succintly removes any doubts from my mind, (and others who may be interested in upgrading their stock 996tts reading this thread) that clearly your a professional whom I would love to work with on future projects...OH, wait a minute...rofl [LOL} indeed.

Guy,

Glad your enjoying the extra power,

I'd recommend if you havent already done so, (if you want to continue modding, its like a disease) buying a Short shift kit, its pretty cheap and easy to install, and makes the 996tts long throw (which is a bit too long imho) into a short "snicky" process...

MOD500, I remember reading your quest from years back, you're sitting @ the big round table with the other knights me thinks smile

Adam, I soooooo nearly got the s/shifter but really wanted to feel one 1st, the TT's does seem to have a very long through, even compared to my old C4, is this the norm on TT's?

The B&M looks like the best, where's the best place to get/do these?

Manthey also do one, in fact I think Fearn's has one in stock.

Yes i believe all TTs feel like this, I especially found the 2nd to 3rd quite long, especially if you are used to a car with a short shift.

Id recommend Gert at Carnewal, only heard good things about him:

http://www.carnewal-europe.com/main.htm

Theres a lot of great stuff on that site, the short shifter is 395 euro.

best,
adam

Sadly I post on here in my personal capacity. I too have feelings. Do I not bleed if you cut me ? People cannot have a po at me and I not respond ? If I respond I am unproffessional, if I ignore people assume that I am either guilty or dare not reply because it may be true [whatever was said] So I cannot win either way.

Lets not ruin a good thread where John is happy with his car.

I've heard they are real quality. Better than the B&M offering.

Guyvert – don’t understand your Knight comment.

Allan, I concur, juvenile quips have no place in such a thread smile

My last post on this subject is to say, for better or worse, given you peddle your wares on here, e.g - if you claim to be able to extract 'x' power from 'y' mods, then you must be prepared to back your claims up with real acc data or get a car to a speed day or the like and prove it. IMO posting sniping comments in the face of a great tech discussion in the other thread is quite ignorant. Further, I don't understand this, given if it were me I would be keen to prove my claims if I held so much faith in them driving

It is a cry shame the GT2 in question is no longer in full cream WM spec, though as I have said a few times, surely you have a 996tt (X50) with the same map and exhaust that could be used to verify your claims? If not, Revo (?) must have a demo car, the one in their adverts maybe?

I find all this tuning stuff very interesting, and don't mean to hurt your feelings ... hope your bleeding has stopped btw. But, as said, it is in your commercial interests to prove your claims in the real world, and until you do I (and others I suspect) won't fail to pull your claims smile

If your products can produce acc data consistent with the numbers you claim I will of course apologise, and make a donation to a charity of your choice ... can't say fairer than that sonar
