Am I to suffer on resale price in years to come if I was to buy a new imported 997 then wait for the same car to go via Porsche HQ.
And is the car the same in set up, if not is this easy to change?

no, not at all as long as it's C16 UK spec. You also get a European wide warranty which will be honoured at any OPC in the UK.

All proper 997 (c16 cars) have full leather as std not the case in the rest of the world.

As suggested before, make sure it is a C16 car (in which case it should not be worth any less than a proper UK car – although some dealers may try and tell you otherwise)

If not a C16 make sure it is from a North European country as their spec is close to the UK (similar cooling and under seal etc) and expect it to be worth less when you sell – probably no as much as the saving you make.

I bought a 07 golf GTI DSG as a daily drive – from a UK importer (cars was originally from Denmark) no difference to the UK car except – lights stay on all the time (like Volvos) 2 year warranty instead of 3 and lastly saved >15% on UK price – been offered £1k less from a trader because it was non UK (mainly to cover the addition of the extra years warranty) so defo saving to be made.

However saying all that don’t buy a brand new 997 – you will take a huge bath when you come to sell it – Budget for at least 20% first year

All of the above is IMHO

it depends on how much you can get it for, because if you get it substantially cheaper abroad so that itll out weigh what itll be worth in a few years when you get rid of it, it would definately be worth it.

I travelled a long way today to see a 996TT c16. I didn't have a sunroof, which I thought was standard for the UK. I think the moral is check everything line by line against UK spec.

Poor condition leather - wasted journey!
