Hi,

Does anyone know if the 924s auto is as sluggish as the 924?

Has anyone driven one?

Cheers
Captain

I would think it's fair to take it as a given that anything with the same power output and a auto rather than a manual box will be slower.

There's a substantial gap in performance betweent the 924 and 924S.

As for 924 manual versus 924S auto - dunno.

According to the Hartech guide....

Although the automatic version of the 924 is abysmally
slow, the 944 automatic, due to its increased low speed
torque, can be quite an acceptable sports car for those
restricted to automatic choices (although with only three
speeds it is still slow overtaking at around 40 mph).

It also describes the 924S as 'a 944 with the wheels moved in' so it's fair to assume the latter statement applies above.

Wouldn't buy one unless you specifically need an auto though - it wil be slower and more problematic than the manual and whatsmore the joy in the 924/944 is an inherant balance that the 'real' Porsche drivers could only dream of. Anyone can steer them on the throttle - unless you have some stupid torque converter tripping you up half way round the corner!
