Have a 91 944 S2 and was just wondering if there are any obvious upgrades to further improve the handling?

Been debated on here & on Porsche-1.net recently. Consensus of opinion is that fresh shocks, bush change plus a realign will freshen it up without going mad. Checking the anti roll bar bushes & mounts is worthwhile as they have a fairly limited life.

Replacing with bigger antirole bars is also worth considering

Get the alignment done properly and you should see a difference- Well, I did on both my previous 944's

It actually handles great, but I really feel that it could be better. I used it as the support car for the Rio Road Rally, and it has to be said that on the twisty mountain roads against some relative newcomers in supercars it was pretty much untouchable( although it is alleged to be 240 bhp). Highlight for me was a journalist telling me that our chairman struggled to stay in touch in a Zonda!biggrin

Koni adjustables have been recommended to me, but I don't know the cost and if it will be worth it. I am sending it into MP Supercars next week for some advice.

KW v3 suspension seems to be the recommended suspensionkit within PCGB & their 944 forum. Have know personal experience, though. Sadly.

My hit list reads as follows:

1) KW v3 kit or refurb the existing Koni M030's
2) Late 968 rear castor mounts
3) Front and rear ARB bushes

This is for an '89 944 Turbo with M030 option and the car will be used on the road with only the occasional track day.

If you haven't already done it then ARB's from a Turbo or 968 M030 might be worth a go too.

All of the above are available from ProMax - worth giving them a call, they are very friendly and happy to offer advice smile (no - I don't work for them!)

From personal experience, KW v3s are excellent. As are 26 mm front ARBs, and camber-adjustable top mounts. The latter are quite important if you go the KW v3 route, as they allow much more radical camber to be dialled in at the front.

Otherwise, getting the rear hatch in perspex/polycarbonate is well worthwhile. Having about 30kg attached to the roof is never going to do wonders for the CofG or roll centre.

The KW kit is good, but expensive; probably near £2k fitted & aligned. I fitted a set of Koni sports dampers to me 968CS & noticed a big difference for the better in the ride, handling and braking. If your current set up is tired you will too; the Koni's were £400 plus fitting.
