I cant ever see a law being passed in the UK in my lifetime for this. They need to sort the rest of the world out before they start on cars.....AGAIN!!!! Can you emagine Germany and France agreeing to it? Can you also emagine all the politiains in europe having to have Chauffeur driven electric cars!!!! I think they would miss their high powered Mercs, BMWs, Jags etc etc...

I do rather think some of you lot have brought this on yourselves. The good people in Brussels looked at forums like Pistonheads, saw how many people took pot shots at the Cayenne / SUV family of cars saying how it was illogical and there was no just reason for their existence then simply expanded the argument a tiny bit to cover cars that are capable of 100mph, after all why would you need to be able to drive at over 100mph when the speed limit is 70 ?
As I`ve said before we need to stick very closely together and vote as one, minority groups removed one by one can be removed without any effort at all. Minority groups standing together become the majority.
Next on the list will be cars who`s back seats have been rendered un-usable or cars over 699cc that are only 2 seaters.
Track days & motorsport are currently on the green mile awaiting execution.
I desperately hope I`m wrong

Totally agree. Ever since this daft Anti-4x4 lobby started up I've made certain and pointed out to anyone 4x4 bashing that they're helping the sandalists to abolish the car with their divide and conquor tactic. It's amazing how easily taken in some people are and even petrolheads are sometimes heard moaning about the scurge of 4x4.As I`ve said before we need to stick very closely together and vote as one, minority groups removed one by one can be removed without any effort at all. Any attack on motoring, motorcycling, motorsport, anything at all needs to be answered with agression. The science has so much missing as to make these nutters an easy p1ss take anyhow.

and this comes at a time where in ultra-green car hating Switzerland parliament appears to be willing to raise the 50+ year old ban on (track based) motorsport...
How meaningful is this? Given the population density I can't imagine there are any circuits left unless a military airfield can be converted.phelix said:

Didn't they try to limit BHP on M/Bikes a few years ago - I think that went down the plughole as I hope will this latest nonsense.
France have a law limiting bike output to 100 bhp. And it was a froggy politician that suggested limiting the top speeds of all the cars in Europe....Never thought I'd say it, but thank god for the Germans who will fight this tooth and nail.

Loophole to that law for motorists: Tippex all numbers after 90mph from the speedo.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/europe_dia...

Henry, please don't blame Brussels for what we trigger-happy Brits do and allow to be done in our names. If the EU is coming down hard on motoring, it is mostly for safety related reasons in countries where fatality rates are comparatively high.As I`ve said before we need to stick very closely together and vote as one, minority groups removed one by one can be removed without any effort at all. Minority groups standing together become the majority.

Should we blame Brussels for the zealotry that spawned this Telegraph headline? "Congestion charge schemes will target motorcycles". http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/main.jhtml?xml...
We in Blighty allow our politicians to freely persecute motoring, despite our comparatively exemplary records, and we pay up all the time.
Like you I tried to get this forum's members to do something about it (there must be enough of us on here to swing a few seats at elections), but we seem more interested in slagging each other off (cars vs bikes, 993s vs 996s, private sales vs indie dealers, including some especially unhelpful vitriol, sometimes targeted at you). Shouldn't this be pointed elsewhere?
So let's leave Brussels out of it. Do you think a congestion charge on motorbikes would even be mooted by local politicians where I now live (or by the EU)? Quickest way to commit political suicide, associated with not insignificant economic damage.
Enjoy your porkers (and all motoring) whilst you still can!
