Does anyone know if it is possible without causing any visible damage? Any thoughts on what the resale price of a second hand one might be?

I know where they have a spare nose cone, plus I have a spare rear spoiler in the shed.....

Is it a cr*p aero kit and you want to replace with another or you want to take back to standard.... ?

I think the 997 official aero kit is the dogs, but I would wink

I'm buying a car with an aero kit, and I'm slightly unsure if it'll get down the road to my house. I know a 997 without the aerokit will, just not sure about with it...I am 90% certain its not a problem, but...

The front splitter (think that what it is?) is pretty low... If you live local I can always pop by (live near Windsor) and have a go and see...if its the Porsche one that is...or ask them to bring the car down to you and have a go....?

I've scratched the hell out of mine and knocked it badly more than once and need to get it resprayed at some point (only see the damage when you look really close), but that has been with some really aggressive speed bumps that I could not get the angle to go up, but I know what streets not to go down now.... and I've seen some not painted where the odd scrape does not show too much apparently...Also heard that they are priced as replaceable by Porsche and so not stupid money when/if you need to replace, They do however take a bit of stick and are held on by weak bolts that will give before they take the whole nose off…. Again, so I heard….

Or by a big plank or get some pikey to put some tarmac down to lessen the slope smile

Test it out though first as that's what another PH'er did. Think he asked his local OPC ? Don't think he got it from them in the end, but they don't need to know that.

In my opinion they look brilliant and worth the odd respray, or a little extra caution when going up a ramp…..I love it every time I see mine.

Presumably you're planning on leaving the rear wing?

Sounds a little silly, but I would suggest that you think about how you're going to use the car before you start messing with the aerokit. Remember the front and rear are balanced aerodynamically. If you start changing the balance you can significantly affect the handling.

I once drove a 996 GT3 on circuit, which above 70mph understeered like a b*tch and was just a nightmare. Turned out, the guy who's car it was had taken the lower lip spoiler off as he couldn't get it over speed bumps near his home. Popped a new one on and it was transformed...

This is why Porsche offer the aero components as a package rather than individually - they're designed to work together.

Why buy a car that is obv. not suited, plenty of 997's out there?

thanks for the advice everyone.
I'm going to stay with the aero kit, I don't think it will cause clearance problems if I am careful.
