Cayman S - Fantastico!
Discussion
Just been out for a spin in a friend's newly acquired Cayman S. To be honest, never been a fan of these until today. What a fantastic car.
Drove out from London to Beaconsfield on the A40. Just got back and thought I'd post my enthusiasm for the vehicle. Handling was great, plenty of gutsy torque and it sounds great. She's opted for red which I thought would look nasty but it looks stunning. Almost reminiscent of the old Dinos.
Nice..

I'm dying to drive one - in fact I'm dying to drive any porsche that isn't rear engined, never have.
Is it true what they say then - it could take another 100bhp easily?
I think so..i was very impressed by the handling, brakes and general feel of the car..but it so desperatly cries out for the ability to have enough power to either scare or excite you..My 996c4s had very similar traits and i got bored with that very quickly. Is it true what they say then - it could take another 100bhp easily?
I’m not an expert in any way but from the feel of it I reckon you there could be scope for more HP.
It felt very planted and stable – equal, if not more so than my 997S (God, did I really just say that?!?) Obviously, I was on the public highway so I didn’t exceed any of the national speed limits.
Have got a driving experience day at Millbrook in 2 weeks so God knows what sort of sensible decisions I’ll make after that!

Oh so right. After test driving a 997C4S I got into a Cayman S which really shone with razor sharp handling, proper sound and a sufficiently punchy engine. Coming from a Box S I was maybe to biased in terms of mid engine handling. It was the extra punch which got me into a 997S which I adore for it's pace as well as the quirky weight distribution. However, anyone putting down the Cayman S has never driven one or is a badge jockey who'd drive a rusty beetle as long as it carries a big 911 sticker
"never driven one or is a badge jockey"
Right, that it! Is it just me or has this "Badge Jockey" business just been invented in the last week? I've never heard it before except a trillion times in the last few days on here...?! First the 993s-soon-to-be-worth-ten-times-as-much-as-996s thread and now here too?
