Were all 3.2 (or even turbo's) 911's fitted with a sunroof or are there some about without?

OK appreciate the CS, targa & cab won't but were mainstream cars available without it?

ta very much

As far as I know they were an (expensive) option. I remember on my '87 928, which cost well over £50k when new, the sunroof cost an extra £1500 and it's about half the size of a 3.2 carrera sunroof...

Probably not on uk rhd cars.

It was an option but, at the time, it was considered to be a 'must have', despite being small, ineffective, causing buffeting, messing up the clean roofline and adding weight in the wrong place.

It's far better to just lower one of the door windows. The front quarter lights (remember those) allow cool air to circulate the cabin without much noise or buffeting, at normal speeds.

Personally, I'd prefer to have a 3.2 without a sunroof. Doesn't do anything for the handling and as someone said previously, adds weight in the wrong place. If you really wan't wind in the hair motoring, buy a targa or better still a cab.

That's what i really meant - I'd like a car without a sunroof - partly as it's one less thing to go wrong but mainly as I think they're the single most pointless item on a car.
