Set my seat into its memory position, lock the car with key fob and when I unlock it again the seat goes into a completely different position than the memory. Press Mem 1 and it goes back into my pre-programmed position. Lock the car, unlock again and seat goes back into Basketball player position. Also, passenger mirror does not dip when I put the car into reverse (well, on occasions it does).

Anyone got any ideas?

I had this - you need to programme the key along with the seat memory.

So when you sit it the car & set the best seat position, set it into memory with the M button & the 1,2,3 buttons etc then also there is a little button with a key symbol on it, you need to set that too.
Whats happening is that the key has a different seat setting position, so when you open the car with the key its changing the seat position.

The manual has it all laid out in detail.

The dipping wing mirror thing is easy - when you are setting the seat memory, if you have the car in reverse it will then dip every time you select reverse.

I'll give that a shot - thanks so much for your advice. When you say set the key button as well does that mean hold it down along with the M and Memory Number?

Also, do I need key in ignition, ignition on, engine running?

No just memory button and the key button. Think of the key button as the default memory to the key used to open the car (ignore buttons 1 and 2). Eg say both you and your wife have keys to the car, set the key button to your preferred settings and every time you open the car with your key the seats etc revert to your settings.

Confusing at first, quite nifty when you know what's happening.

It's normal. My car is in the garage and you need to contort to be able to get in the car. So I have the key set to take the seat all the way back, so when I unlock it back she goes. Then hit the memory button to resume normal service. Very cool!

The mirror dipping thingy...Should my MY01 996tt do this too? I have sport seats not memory ones.
Thanks

Re: the mirror dipping on reverse it depends on where the "selector" switch is resting (ie which mirror you are choosing to adjust)

Henry

edited to say just re-read the thread & my response was to the question (not asked !) why would my mirror dip on reverse sometimes & not others.
