Anyone had problems with the rear spoiler on 996 Turbo?

Only half mine raises above 75 and manual overide packed up. OPC said need whole new unit and by the way not covered by warrenty (buy buy grand) However if it was just the hydrolics then it would have been covered...

Help!

If it is a grand to fix, I would consider the fix wing option.

Strip the whole thing down, clean it and lube it.

The right side goes up, the left stays down. No warning light...

I thought it might have been the left hydrolic (hoping any case)

thanks for imput so far.

Hello

Does the spoiler even try and move on left hand side ?

They are inependant hydraulic rams with a shared pump..they can be a right pain in the butt to repair if the whole lot os not replaced together....some times if the do go out of phase a little you can leave the spoiler up over night and the fluid will bleed any air out of the system. I have found that to work on a few ocassions.

Open the boot lid and check the base of both pistons - it is usually fairly obvious if there is any hydraulic fluid leaking from one or other piston - the same happened to me and in the end it was easier to replace the entire sealed system (ie the two pistons, and the single motor unit which is mounted just in front of the third brake light and just plugs into the wiring loom) - The cost of the parts though from memory are something like £800 - so not cheap.

cheers guys for all your help. Booked it in for Tues. No evident leakage so thought it easier to replace.
