Buy the part and have a look yourself. If it fell out, it probably clips back in. If you can't figure it out, phone round indies until one knows how to do it and then take it there. hth.

Oh, on second thought, have a look at the other side. You do have two after all! wink

Thanks for the info..

Paul, is that definately the case? If so, that's good news, I'll pop up and collect it. However, looking at the other side it looked on initial inspection that it is attached via the otherside as well as the front. IE the bumper is the meat in the sandwich!

Anyone have a contact/number at HQ?
Fella get down your OPC and give them so merry hell, If they dont know how to fix cars that they are meant to ask them if they can tell you somewhere that knows what there doing ?

What a joke how on earth would it fall off if not through a fault of the design or part !!

Also looking at the picture the heat shield is very close and I can only assume under both load and expansion of the exhaust it has pushed out the plastic cover.

I for one can not see anywhere that it secures to that would not be accesible by a ramp or jack to affix a screw or other component to secure it.

question is whether the part comes in the specific colour ... They'll screw you on getting it painted up.

They have suggested/guessed that it might have been bumped or knocked. Possible but unlikely and not that I know of! There are no marks, (which would surely be on the exaust and very obvious, the slightest knock would mark the chrome I'd have thought) no alarm at any point either.

Edit - Part number is 99750565200o1c Cost is about 40 quid.

Well this is going to be up to you and how you are as a person, me I would argue the toss that it was a design fault and that they had not engineered enough tolerance into the design to allow for heat expansion and load movement on this part.

Another way of checking would be to secure some soft material like bluetak to the area and drive around to mimic the conditions of how you drive, the check to see if it leaves an impression, if so show them your school science project and see what they say.

Whatever you do good luck and enjoy your car its only a bit of plastic afterall.

Assuming it is a DIY job...

I have had positive experiences from these Porsche breakers

http://www.porsch-apart.co.uk/

Rather than get the typical OPC rip off for a £40 part, these guys might have it?

Good Luck

Guy

edited to add its only £40 smile

It only does so if you as a customer pick up the piece lying on the floor...

as a suggestion: when you clip it back in place use a small amount of clear silicone in a couple of places to make sure it stays where Ferdinand intended!

Well in that case it raises and even bigger question as to how it came off in the first place ?

For those that are interested - Paid an impromptu visit to the dealer to discuss this, the tech brought out the part, hey presto 2.9 seconds later its clipped on and hunky dory.

I wonder if I'd have dropped the car off as planned for the day they'd have rung to say actually we don't need to take your car to pieces after all.

I have however paid £55 for the part. I may have to take issue with this too.
Sounds familiar. Had an issue with the back boot lid of a Box S a few years back. One OPC told me that metal and paint work for around GBP 500 was required. Another OPC just lowered in the hinges (what the first OPC said was impossible) and things were fine - and done for free...
