944 S2 - Current Values
Discussion
Was reading in 911 & PW (Your Cars) that the S2 is "really stonking value at the moment". I'm selling my S2 to buy something better but can't shift it.... despite reducing it to just a shade over two and half grand. High miles at 177K but with a good history. Of course, at this price bracket it's hardly a cracking example but it's certainly not for the scrap heap. I see alot of S2's at £3500, £4000, £4500 + bracket... are these selling for that money or is there just(generally) a lack of interest in S2's like mine? Any thoughts guys/girls?
I have been looking to buy since last Xmas, and many of the higher priced one's still appear for sale. When I went looking, there's a lot of "tired" ones too around the £3-£4k mark!
The best I could find in my circumstances was a '90 S2 in reasonable condition for £3600. It's complete and all the electrics work, but on closer inspection the paintwork is in need of alot of TLC. That was until last week-end when it overheated on the motorway!
Don't know the root cause yet but that will be the end of my Porsche motoring for many weeks or months. Nice while it lasted ....

Hate to say it,and good luck with getting the car running again, but buying a cheap 944 (particularly an S2) is much too risky imho. The best I could find in my circumstances was a '90 S2 in reasonable condition for £3600. I bought one 3 weeks ago for £1500.00
2 owners (guy I bought it from had it for the last 14 years) 148k miles, Full history, white leather etc.
Turning it into a track day car, put M030 suspension on it, bigger black brakes, decat, chip, LSD gearbox, 996 turbo wheels/tyres, stripped the interior etc etc - nice weapon now, but needs a bit more power (might go the supercharged route).
Taking it to the 'ring next Friday.
And to be fair, its not really a £1500 example, there is nothing wrong with it, everything works, there is no rust/marks of note. The bloke was just fed up of advertising it - he started off wanting 4 grand for it but that was 2 months ago. Hell of a car for the money.
