hi all,

i have just bought a 996 c4s and find the brakes a bit poor, i had 380 mm brembos on the front of my m3 and 355s on the back, with floating discs, so is there any known mods to sharpen the std brakes up? its the only thing i am not happy with.....

cheers robin.

Why do you consider them poor? I'd suggest having the brake fluid changed, checking that discs and pads are fine and then getting used to the fantastic, feelsome breaking that 911's are famous for.

Don't be fooled by the greater pedal travel or slightly spongy feeling during initial braking. 'They all do that'.

Hi
I found the brake feel a bit vague on my 2002 C4S and when I had my wheels re furbished replaced the brake pads with Brembo Red stuff pads as they dont generate so much brake dust. The brake feel and performance has been transformed not sure about any track work but on the road I am very pleased

I've just come out of a 996 C4S, the best brake improvement is to replace the standard pads with Pagid Yellows up front and Oranges rear, then change the fluid for a good one Castrol SRF, Motul RBF or ATE Blue. One caveat to this is that your discs won't last as long before cracks start to appear, you can improve this with better brake ventilation.

BM's are overbraked, you need to allow a little time to adjust to the additional pedal pressure needed on a Pork... Once they're bedded in and you're used to them they are phenomenal yes
