As long as you dont hit anything or turn the wheel on purpose trying to cause your own death are you likely not to roll and just spin even at stupidly high speeds?

At really stupid speeds aerodynamics would surely play a part - wouldn't fancy going backwards at BIG speed in something with a whopping great wing on the back...

I think as long as you don't hit anything you wouldn't roll no matter what you did with the wheel?

I would expect more than a bit of luck would be involved at such speeds, it may only take a change in surface (grip) or a slight dip or camber to affect individual wheels of the car...there is a difference with a controlled drift, a multi spin such as the one in the vid clearly shows the driver does not have that much (if any) control of the vehicle at times and would therefore be at the mercy of other factors affecting the car before it came to rest.

Also J mention that when he can see the wall he doesnt brake and when he cant he does. Is that because-

A: He thinks he may be able to steer at some point

B: He doesnt want to be heading straight at the wall if the braking may make that happen

C: None of the above

You are very unlikely to flip a car unless you hit something or dig into gravel, regardless of what speed you are doing/how fast you are spinning.

The exception being something ludicrous like a top heavy land rover or narrow city car something where possibly you might roll so far on the suspension it keeps going. Even thats very unlikely though.

I want to know possible reasons of WHY he spun. Unlike 911s, Carrera GT make some proper downforce............ any ideas?

Its easy to get it wrong on a oval in a very fast car,get your line slightly wrong, and lift in the wrong place. There is probably many reasons for this to happen.
CGT because its low and mid engine will spin rather than do a 911 reverse projectile job.
The down force at 170 mph plus,i would say is getting close to the limits of downforce vs some front lift on the cgt standard front end going around a corner.
One thing, the gt is scary with the roof off at 130+_,trying to go around a fast sweeping corner. It did not want to turn in so well, and clearly effects the air flow ,with the roof off.
Leno was also on Mich slicks, the pilot sports would have let go even earlier!

If I remember correctly that CGT wasn't his personal one but one laid on for Porsche for some publicity things...

You should try watching some Nascar races; inspite of flaps in the roof to give them some downforce when spinning, they can still take off.

Indeed, I wasn't really speaking about aerodynamic issues. Whole different ball game that, but fairly far removed from the type of cars most of us drive.

On the same site there is a piece about the CGT clutch.
Unfortunately, the piece is complete rubbish.
One wonders where he gets some of his ideas from.

id imagine at that speed, once you start to lose it theres no hope, as even a very small slip angle will balls up the airflow under the car and you'll lose downforce yikes top man though. he was a huge dodge viper fan too when i worked there and came to ctc regularly to play

Of a Porsche autocue? He seems to have all the "Porsche speak" may have some sort of commercial tie in.

As you say re the clutch autocue from porsche, its a great clutch, but you can easily toast it,unlike what leno says.Clutchs have lasted at least 14,000 miles so far on some cars and more, and some have lasted 3 mins!
As the americans say, whats a clutch, and whats the third pedal for!!
