Registered owner/V5 question

i'm probably being a bit thick but....

i've agreed to buy a car and put down a deposit. but my wife is collecting the car because she's nearby on business.

i want to be the registered keeper but i won't be there to sign and date the v5.

so, how do i get round this? does she just fill in my details and then bring the form back for me to sign and then send off? or would the seller want the v5 filled in there and then for him to send off?

any ideas?

The advise on the v5 is that the seller sends it to DVLA with new owners details. They might trust the missus with it (if she does'nt look shifty).

It shouldn’t be a problem, just get your wife to fill in your details as the new owner.
