why not just install it yourself - it's not very difficult?

If you've got an install guide to put it in within that time I'll have a go....smile

Here's the instructions for the B&M version, the removal and replacement will be pretty much identical.

It's easier than it looks TBH, understanding where the screws are is the key. I did the console delete and a shortshift earlier this week in less than a hour, spent a few more mins waxing the centre console (it's body coloured) as it seemed the ideal time to do it smile

Is the short shifter a vast improvement?

It's like Marmite, that's the only way to describe it. Yes it's a short throw but it's a lot stiffer and you can feel the increased notchiness when cold. You do get used to it, personally I like it 75% of the time smile

If you read the American forums they think it's a revelation, a sign of the second coming. It's not that, personally I wanted to try it on the GT3, I had a spare B&M from my C4S in the garage and decided to give it a go.

Hi Steve,

Stiffer, requires more effort - that's the thing that takes some getting used to, but it's a lot shorter. On the lower gears you need to be more confident with your change ie. push it firmly into gear.

As I said I just wanted to try it, I've read in a few places that the 997 Short Shift Kit is very good and fits the 996, so I might just try one of those or as the original poster's using, the Manthey one.
