I had my first Porsche serviced at OPC for a major server today and wondered if it is it normal practice for your vehicle to receive a curtsey vacuum, while it is in for service, as mine did not.

I am curious to see if this is the norm, or have I received poor service. We certainly pay enough for it to be included as curtsey or is is optional extra!!

My car always comes back about a million times better than it goes to an OPC.

I have my car serviced at OPC Colchester and they have never failed to clean and vacuum it, even when it has been in for the most basic of work.

When the car is due for a service I just dont bother to clean it for several weeks. biggrin

I would suggest you write a tersly worded letter to the OPC Dealer Principal. You might get some goodies out of it.

They should have washed and vacuumed it as all major car dealers do as a matter of service.
If they cant do this what chance of them getting the mech bits right.

Feel free to call me one of the anal obsessive types but many people consider it a blessing if they don't get the courtesy valet.

yes

I specifically tell my Aston dealer (and my OPC for the previous few cars) NOT to let their "valeting" staff near my car.

Thanks for your views…thinking about it now, it may be a blessing that they didn’t do the courtesy valet, however I will be writing to the dealer principle anyway.

Cheers

I used to work at an OPC for a few months and it was a bit hit or miss if cars got cleaned or not. The car cleaners were also the collection and delivery drivers so if one of them was off or they where all out on the road then cars would not get cleaned. The state that some of the mechanics left the cars in was disgraceful, hand prints, oil, scratches etc, why they were never challenged over this or made to use wing covers I don't know!
Not a very good service when you consider how much an OPC charge for most things but imho I always prefer garages to leave my car uncleaned as I prefer to do it properly myself.

I felt as if I was banging my head against a brick wall so decided to leave.

I had some warranty work done at OPC Exeter recently and was pleasantly surprised how well they cleaned my GT2 - they even cleaned rear seat platforms off where my wife had deposited a small amount of onion skins [don't ask] after using the car for a shopping trip.

I do think though the money these places charge, that they would do a decent job. I spent just over 2k on this occasion for a major service + extended warrantee + replacement header tank valve. Then again I suppose that’s how they make their money!!....

I'm with Hutch. Please leave my car alone and let me clean it without putting swirl marks and scratches in to the bodywork.
You may have too much time on your hands if you are going to write and complain that they didn't hoover the car. Could you not have popped back in and asked them to do it when you collected it?

3rd'd.

The first thing I did when I picked up my new car was get it professionally detailed.

It was covered in swirl marks, holograms etc.

A disgrace.
