987 Bottom Light Cluster?

I'm sure this is a silly, paranoia induced question, but on a 987, in the bottom light cluster only the outer (i.e. the bit where the bulb is clearly visible through the lens) part lights doesn't it?

I ask as I went through some standing water today and I thought I may as well just check the lights were OK and whilst everything seems to work I want to confirm the "patterned" inner section is purely a cosmetic thing?
