Sorry, I know that has been done to death but I have a reasonably simple question....I would like to have a cable in the glovebox that i put the ipod into that then allows me to control ipod through the stereo unit...

Does anyone know if this is possible, if I have to replace stereo so be it...And a company in/near north London that are good at this type of thing and can do it all for me?

Many thanks,

Jerome

I've just done the ipod thing in my 993. I've fitted an Alpine CDE-9850Ri (http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/sd_mp3.asp), which has a cable that connects directly to the ipod and can sit in the glovebox - allows control from the front panel. Just done Le Mans - very happy with it. Fitting is a snip if you are a little handy in that department - pretty much plug 'n' play if you can take the old unit out.

What I forgot to say was this was fitted to a friends 9964S which I saw at Le Mans. Just plug it in to the cigarette lighter and tune in through your radio. Cheap and easy and good quality. I've just ordered one I was so impressed

Thanks all....Thats great...10 cds are all and well but in these days of ipods the shuffle feature lends itself so well to driving...Also because my suspension is a tight as a drum and the car is lowered the cd skips on cats eyes!!!!

I also installed the an Alpine unit. They were the first to integrate with ipods.
