On my way into work this morning i noticed that on my 1986 3.2 Carrera when i absolutely floor it, the engine gets to just over 5k revs and then isnt interested in going any higher. it will rev fine up to 5k and there doesnt seem to be a lack of power but all of a sudden its like there is a lack of fuel or something. its the same in all the gears. Generally the car doesnt smoke and doesnt use much oil. Is it something to do with the throttle body or air flow meter or something more serious. anyone got any ideas please..cheers

If it feels like you hit the rev-limiter, ie a sudden jolt, it could well be the Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor. Do a search on Pelican (http://tinyurl.com/yro895) for 'CHT' for more info

Mine did this on the day I bought it, been fine ever since swapping it out. Part is circa £70 + one hr labour at an indie.
