Guys,

Been away from PC for a couple of weeks - any new rumours on the GT2 - news on production numbers, BHP, whether it will have PDK etc?

Brief article in EVO (issue 106) with a pic of the 997 GT2 at the 'Ring.

I just says expect 500 bhp-plus, 0-62 in 3.5 secs and top speed over 200. Power to weight expected to be around 340 bhp per ton.

List expected to be around £130K and it says it will come with traction control.

There was something a few weeks ago, following which I added this to the GT2 PH wiki:

997GT2
Due for public unveiling at Frankfurt motorshow in September 2007, speculation is that it will have 530bhp!

Further speculation on the Pistonheads Porsche forum has mentioned the car will be launched with a manual gearbox although a DSG system maybe an option on 09 M/Y cars.

It should not be there in the 1st place! If you're gonna buy a GT2, then you should be capable of driving it in all conditions, without the need for safety blankets.

It has been added for our cousins across the pond.

IMO

But for the less capable driver who doesn't have the ability to differentiate between a patch of oil and a puddle of water on his trip to the Ring/Hatch/Park, it might me kind of useful...no? biggrin

Don't bother trying to have a sensible conversation with Kurgen, he's a Troll and a master thread-crapper. frown

Guy, was having some tinkering at the weekend with the Fearnmeister.. I see the Ruf is moving under it's own steam, now!

I liked the exhaust, sounded a bit 993 gt2_ish.

Autoweek (USA) are saying 520HP is minimum and 550HP likely.

Can't find any other comments on PDK.

Just had a very interesting conversation with a collegue who has one on order, sadly he doesn't post on the the internet. He's been told the following.

£131k basic inc VAT etc.

204mph.

530bhp.

PSM and TC, both can be switched off.

Limited UK availability (circa 50 cars? Not sure if this is first year allocation?).

Launch at Frankfurt in september, as the press has been stating for a while.

First UK cars will be coming in Q1 2008

£15k deposits and like with the turbo and the GT3 there is customer questionnaire with orders to establish history of Porsche ownership and to try and weed-out speculators.

I will call my dealer now and see if I can get him to confirm - as I am getting the "...only GT2 we are getting" I suspect his comments around limited availability are accurate.

your obviously the gay if you are saying that the new one is gay because it has traction control. you are just trying to be more masculine by proving that you dont need it.
