I guess we are talking 964 RS club sport against 964 road registered supercup car.
Driven both back to back at Brands Hatch short circuit a couple of years back. It really depends on how much they have been bu**ered about with. On paper the supercup car has the edge. In truth it is more down to geo, who's modified it, played around with springs and dampers etc.
Supercup car gets my vote

I thought the M003 clubsport option was for the 993RS? I've got a 964 Carrera Cup car which used to be road registered in the Fatherland -- it's been somewhat modified now, so would never get an MOT -- but even in standard trim it was a racing car, not a road car.

For the 964 RS

M003 is Clubsport spec bare metal job
M002 is Touring spec
M001 is Lightweight spec with carpets in the back etc

I believe

Driven both on road 'n track,,,,cars are definitely different in the way they drive, most of this has to be down to the fully welded in matter cage increasing the rigity of the car,,,clubbie has more of a tendancy to lift a front wheel when powering through a corner smile

Both great cars, assuming similar set up, CS would appear to offer more involvement on track, yet more of a nightmare getting to the track if you drive on B roads and can put up with the noise smile

Unless you are a track junkie or like to put colour co-ordinated headlight covers on for car shows telling everyone how rare your CS is (292 made), then regular basic RS is probably the better all round ownership proposition.

Clubsport....to follow your logic I will be selling mine tomorrow and looking for a nice heavily spec'd C2....thanks for the tip....

Headlight covers a la 70's RSR £100 a set inc fixings painted exactly to body colour....very very common in Europ on 964RS seem to be frowned upon here...just a leader of Leichtbau fashion....

In fairness not a direct comparison. The 964 club sport has had the spring rates messed around with. Oh by the way they both belong to two mates that wanted some imput as well as a bit of tuition. The previous owner ran the car on slicks for track day use only but even so the front springs were to stiff. Nick has lowered the spring rates on the front and I drove the car at donington the other week and it handles well. The only issue now is that he needs to change the tyres as the front tyres are a harder compound than the rears so the car has a tendandy to understeer.
The other 964 is one of the 80 road registered 964 Supercup cars. Lighter than the 964 club sport but similar in the sense of no creature comforts inside. OK on the road, it got driven dowm to le mans last year and the only headache was that the car is all black and the weather was fairly hot. She needs a few quid spent to freshen her up. Not done many miles but shocks renewed or freshened would be nice. Far better balanced than the CS but only because the CS has been messed about with.
In truth if you can find one of the supercup cars at sensible money then buy it or alternatively a club sport. It really depends on whether you want a real stripped out 964 for the road.
