Hi,
there seems to be a problem on a high proportion of 996 (and possibly other models)where the inside of the headlamp lens get marked with dust. It seems to be more prevalent on the Litronics.
Having looked carefully at it, it appears to be caused by remnants of mould releasant on the inside of the lens attracting dust.

The car i'm buying has signs of it, but so have a few others ive viewed.

Is there any way to get to the inside of the lens to clean it. I'm sure that once the dust and releasing agent are gently wiped off, it wont reoccur.

Cheers.

Mine too - surely if you remove the unit, and remove the bulbs there is a hole big enough to poke a stick with some cotton wool on the end through to clean the inside of the lens?

I had actually though of using one of those big fluffy make-up brushes, perhaps with an extension on it, but as I dont have the car yet, I can't experiment. I was rather hoping someone had already found an easy solution.

I think the easiest solution is not to worry about it. You certainly won't when the RMS fails and it dumps all of its oil on the drive.
