GT2 in America
Mighty Porsche undergoes final testing
Here’s Porsche’s next 911 variant undergoing final testing in America.
This 997 GT2 mule was snapped undisguised ahead of a projected debut at this September’s Frankfurt motor show. It looks as you might expect, although that’s not to say it doesn’t look very useful indeed.
As before, the GT2 combines elements of the hardcore GT3 with a Turbo motor.
This time the 997’s mighty twin turbo flat six has been boosted to a rumoured 520bhp. Seeing as the GT2 will once again be rear wheel drive only – and hence around 100kg lighter than the four wheel drive and luxuriously equipped regular 997 Turbo – the new GT2 should be somewhat brisk.

It looks a bit "aftermarket" for me .. think i would tune the Turbo instead to priduce 540hp .. but I will reserve my position until I see one in the flesh....
If that's what you want then the GT2 would be kind of missing the point. it's less about the power than being about a turboed track monster. Design is way 'over fussy'!
Too similar to the turbo....& most of the 997 variants seem to be going the same way. Love it or loathe it at least the 996 was a clean sheet design...997 can't seem to make up it's mind whether it wants to be a standalone product in it's own right or 'pay homage' to the 993!
....'bout time it got a life IMHO!!!

Yep, certainly doesn't look like a road going racer version of the 997 Turbo like the 993 version did.

Hey ho, Porsche's new target buyers in mind with the styling I assume?

I pitty the poor motoring reporters who need to be able to spot the difference between the various 911 versions. Looks just like the last 10 or so fast ones to my untrained eyes.
Burn the witch!Looks fapping cool to me and not in the least bit similar to other porkers (bar the basic shape of course)
The widow-maker is back

....993 & 996 versions of the GT2 looked far better.....as Erik997 said....looks just liked an aftermarket kit...says it all really (max power would be proud!
)...style before substance seems to be the new Porsche mantra IMHOjuzza_02 said:
Do you think this will bring down the price further of the 996 GT2 ?
That could start becoming an interesting buy, if it drops a little further in price. (I like the side intakes on the 997 GT2 though).
Chances are this rather superficial looking car will actually reinforce the values of the 996 GT2!That could start becoming an interesting buy, if it drops a little further in price. (I like the side intakes on the 997 GT2 though).
(even though technically and chassis wise it will probably be stunning, it's the looks)
