If you were behind the wheel of a dark blue 996 Carrera 4 heading north on the M6 this morning with a registration beginning with 'Y39' then please stop driving like a complete knobhead. Tailgating in very heavy traffic at over 80mph will eventually get somebody killed and if it's just you then that's fine, but don't drag me or anyone else down with you.

Message to everybody that uses the motorways in the UK.

Please get out of my way and stop bloody driving in the middle lane or outside lane, if I flash you it's because I want to get past, so don't take as a personal insult. Instead just pull over and stop turning a 3 or 4 lane motorways into road which now only has one over taking lane because you're inept to know the Highway Code.

Also, a message to the fat birds, eat less and get more exercise

So, nar, nan, nar!

Very grown up, I'm sure. The fact of the matter is that I was in the outside lane, doing the same speed as everyone else, which happened to be faster than traffic travelling in the middle lane. If I could have been going faster then I would have been.

Sitting two inches from my rear bumper trying to get me out of the way in this situation is not only futile but bloody dangerous. Like I said, kill yourself by all means but this behaviour is just moronic and if it had been someone in anything other than a Porsche doing it to you then you'd be bitching about it on here.

Just move out of the way then, would you rather he was 2 inches behind you or in front where you control how close you are ?

I have to back you up there, I pull in after overtaking almost religiously (almost as I try to avoid the inside lane when it has standing water), but when there are 20 cars in the outside lane all queueing to overtake the middle lane patience is required. The outside lane might be moving at 80, the tailgater might want to do 90 and the tailgated might want to do 100.

This is completey not recommended but varying your speed slightly (w/o using the brakes) often works nicely and them hitting their brake lights repeatedly warns the car behind them that they're a muppet.

ETA I do agree with Bozeman as well, but often you get tailgated when you can't move over - that just underlines the stupidity of the driver behind you.

Life is too short to get hung up about such issues, yes it was probably dangerous but if you ranted about every bit of bad driving you see on a daily basis it would take forever.

Would you have posted such a thread if it was a Vectra, Mondeo etc etc.

Just come back from a trip to France. I have to say by and large the French do seem to have better discipline in moving over and not hogging the middle or fast lanes.

you lot want to try driving in Italy !
I drove to Naples and back recently - that lot should be certified
I will never moan about the driving in the UK again

I guess the OP sees this as such a rare occurence it warrants a 'spotted' thread.

I loved driving in Sicily recently - no-one cares if you overtake, if you pull out, if you dont indicate etc etc - got into it very quickly and loved it ! No-one gets stressed & no road rage....as everyone drives like a loony !

life is too short to worry about such issues? its really annoying and stupid though.
Would you have posted such a thread if it was a Vectra, Mondeo? no because its not a mondeo or vectra forum.

come on guys if it was a Vectra or Mondeo it would have been well in front of the 996, especially if running on diesel, apart from White Merc Sprinters Mondeo's & Vectra have phenominal pace hehe

Sounds like the guy in the Porsche was being an idiot, unlike you he couldn't "hack it" passing gradually in the busy third lane on a congested motorway.

If it happens to me I just bow out, rise above it and let them pass at the earliest opportunity I can to pull over. Its usually the safest option too. I rarely feel the urge to bleat about it though, life's too short.

Now if he then didn't blast past me in a whirl and instead crawled past at 2mph more than I was travelling that would really rattle my coconuts. I want to hear the damn thing roar!

Best thing to do with idiot drivers, regardless of the car, is to avoid them.

I trust being an performance car enthusiast and motoring writer this is what you did.
