Hello guys, greetings again from Kazakhstan,

Just received this sound/video recording from a fellow piston header. It’s a `MAX SPEED` sports exhaust from America.

I just wanted to know your thoughts and views on this system, it’s rather hard to tell just from a video recording, but it should give us a fair idea.
The way the Guy has explained the sound and performance is.....QUOTE.....` It’s reasonably quiet on idle, sounds good light throttle and goes ballistic on full throttle!!! `.

The system is for sale on EBay at just over 1000 UK pounds + import duties, he can get it to my door for 1200 UK pounds. For the price what do you think?
I am going to really look into the sports exhaust thing over the next few weeks as every ones tastes and likes are different.
I have heard great reports of Miltek and Designtek users.
Does any one know of how much the Miltek system is for 996tt? …I was hoping to find some one maybe selling one nearly new/second hand and that also could have saved me a few quid which I don’t mind.

Thanks lads

Enjoy the weather at home as its 42 degrees here!!

maybe its youtube not doing it justice, but just sounds very plain. Having said that, not heard a turbo really so maybe its much better than standard?

I've got a Milltek on my 996TT S (Cabrio). Sounds good...but not like my old C4S with the Porsche switchable exhaust. The C4S used to turn heads with the noise, this doesn't (it turns heads with the looks though!) I think that the standard TT sounds quieter / smoother than a normal carrera anyway.

I haven't listened to the Milltek from outside the car (other than idling). It does resonate at around 2000 rmp, but that may just be in the cabrio.

I am told by the guy that fitted it that it is 98db. So good for most tracks.

I am going to VMAX next weekend, so I will try and get some good recordings of the sound.

To be honest I think exhaust sound is such a subjective thing that you should wait until you're back in the country, get to a few meets and listen to the various offerings first hand.

I went through this process with the Evo - asking for opinions and buying based on them. What one lad found totally acceptable others would find horrendous. I ended up paying a grand for an exhaust that I hated two weeks later. I certainly won't be making the same mistake with the 911.

I had an exhaust + fuel pump fitted to the Evo at Revoltion in Newcastle and had no problems with them. They're definately a Miltek reseller so I assume could get one for you. Website is here.
