from MY04, yes, the intervals are as above.

Not quite sure what changed in '04 to make this a reality and it makes me wonder whether a facelift 996 or boxster (or earlier) could actually be done every 2 years instead...

No!

986 Boxsters 04my are 2yrs 12000miles The service books are a little misleading because the quote 20000 1st but this is km

987 Boxster changed to 2yrs 20000miles

One of the most shocking things about porker servicing is that a minor service doesn't even include changing the oil filter....

What's that all about? They're about £7!?

I changed it myself before they popped the new oil in on my old 996.

not sure.

04 onwards was 2 yearly - it should be clear in the book.

Pre 04my Every 12mths 12000miles, oil & filter should be changed every 2yrs ie if low mileage then a 'yearly' (kick the tyres!) service may be carried out

04my 986 every 24mths 12000miles

987 every 24mths 20000miles

I wouldn't leave my oil in for 20k miles however good the oil was.

While we're all discussing servicing/warranty, I have a couple of queries about mine.

I bought the car with 41.5k miles on from Sutton Coldfield OPC. I was told that they would do the 48k Mile service prior to me buying it as it was 'a big one' and was coming up. This was done and in the service book, they've stamped it and ticked yearly/major and spark-plug change.

I bought the warranty with the car too which I want to keep up, so my questions are:

1. When is the next service due? A year from the last one or do I have to redo the 48k mile service?
2. If I get it serviced at an indy specialist who will use genuine porsche parts, how do I go about renewing the warranty?

Cheers,
Boon

a year from the last one.

OPCs have to do the next service if it's within 3000 miles or 3 months. Sounds like theydid the 48k one and the book has been stamped as such (major and plugs).

If you have it serviced at an independent make sure you get a VAT receipt and ideally a receipt stating that OE Porsche parts were used. This will suffice and in the event of a claim you should be fine.

Nor me. All my cars get the oil and filter(s) changed at 6000 or less (whichever is first) despite extended intervals now (which are just to get the cost per mile figure down - long intervals are good for the engine in my opinion).
