Sorry for the long rant but I have to share my frustration!rage

I just advertised my LHD 964 on Friday and got a quick call from someone in Germany who was keen to look at it. He said he was flying over Monday to view another car and asked if he could he look at mine then.

I said I was at work so this was not really convenient (it's an hour each way). However, I made an agreement to meet him at home at 1.30 today so he could view the car.

I get home for 1.30 as agreed and get a call saying he was running a little late as in traffic 20 mins away (so would arrive at 1.40). I told him I could only stay until 2.00.

Next thing I get a text saying 'I cannot make 2pm so have gone back to airport to catch early flight'

Needless to say I was a little furious having wasted my time so I tell him so. Then he has the cheek to start slagging me off by text!punch

I don't know why I bothered...lesson learnt

Craig

P.S. This guy is called Alex so avoid him if he calls!

That's why people use car dealers for the buy/sell process. You pays your money and takes your choice ... Still a bumm3r though.

What a familar tale, is just part and parcel of what you have to face selling privately. Have a number of similar stories from selling my 928 over the past few months. I'm sure there are many succesful painless private sales but sometimes you gotta kiss a lot of ugly, unreliable, illinformed frogs before your prince comes along.

I think I had to take three days off in the end which probably cost me more than I saved from selling to the trade.

I have sold loads of cars over the years and luckily it has been a painless experience until now. I think I have learnt to only do things on my terms now...

Shame that these few 'idiots' let the side down. Most people I have dealt with have been very honest.

I've nearly always had a bad experience selling a high value car privately - I hate it.

Just about to put my 911 on autotrader - I can feel the idiots rallying right now!

Yip , Part and parcel ... I had an amazing encounter recently where the seller didn't turn up at a designated meeting point ! WTF!!

It took me 45 mins to get there and (as usual being idiot enough to be early for the man) , I further wasted my time by another 30 mins before tucking tail between legs.
I later got a curt phone call saying 'he got a bit busy' could we meet again tomorrow!! ..
