1st drive out in a 2 weeks and just half a mile from home and i get rear ended. Pulled the bumper off to have a look at how bad it could be. At 1st glance it looks like it needs a new bumper but not being a body specialist im not 100% sure about the impact bar.

just wanted to find if any of you guys had experince with either Leeds or Sheffield body shop deptpartments?

or another avenue will be a indy. Any good ones in the East yorkshire/lincolnshire area??

FYI if this is an insurance claim an OPC will charge around £1700. If it's not then a Chipsaway guy will do a rear end re-spray for around £150.

Having just had a tiny dent taken out by OPC East London (they use a bodyshop in essex), and beem amazed at it taking 6 weeks, I can confirm that the quality of their work is top-notch, but their colour-matching is very very poor. I refused to collect it twice because the colour of the newly-sprayed parts was so far off ...

I had a Boxster comprehensively re-built by Nottingham OPC's body shop and the work was absolutely top notch.

Also, for a Lincolnshire indy, give Phil a ring at 911sport (details at www.911sport.co.uk), whatever bodyshop he uses is very good. No association etc.

I'll never go with a local repair to paintwork again. At best you get a good finish that will deteriorate with time, at worst you get a botch which will get even worse over time. Go to a recognised body shop non OPC and you should get it done for £500 or so, at least that was what I paid for the rear PU on my 996.

I had a visit from one of the local spray shops in the area, he does a lot of work with british superbike teams and used to do GSE ducati when they where in WSB. He reckons it'll be arround 200 quid. They reform the bits that are dented putting heat on the area then give it a spray. Seen alot of the work he's done and hes really really good so i think im going with this idea.

My local OPC body repair centre happens to be 30 minutes away. Shorade Accident Repair in Cannock. They were 2nd in the Porsche bodyshop of the year this year, and first the year before, their work is very good and the shop itself is like no body shop I have ever been to before. It has more in common with a BUPA Hospital than a bodyshop. I had to have a scratch repaired on my drivers door and they resprayed the entire door for £300.

The work, paint match and quality of finish was first class, took 3 days to do, and was in the shop within 1 week and delivered back to me fully valeted! Bit out of the way for our OP, but very good. I even got the official Porsche Gaurantee for the repair in the post 2 days later.
