996 Steering wheel removal directions
Discussion
Disconnect the battery - and leave it for at least an hour.
There are three Torx screws in the back of the wheel you'll need to remove to release the air-bag - once these are out the bag assembly complete with horn push will be released.
On the back of the air-bag there is a yellow two pin connector - pull this off and store the a/bag somewhere.
There's a 24mm nut holding the wheel on - centralise the steering and undo - it will be tight, but not mega! Once the nut's off, a good tug side to side should see the wheel off the splined shaft. It will come off with the indicator cancel arrangment - couple of screws hold this on. this needs transfering to the new wheel. The assembly should just be reverse of above.
Have fun!

In addition to Graham's instructions, a good tip when removing steering wheels is to loosen and unscrew the 24mm nut holding the wheel on but don't remove the nut completely. Next pull the wheel off the splined shaft (sometimes it takes some strength to break it's grip) - the nut still in place will stop you hitting yourself in the face with the steering wheel.

If your old wheel is a black three spoke and you're selling it Im interested in buying it!!
it is, and I could be tempted.... Just got a carbon wheel.
How much do they normally go for?
Not sure sxactly, I would have thought £250+ with airbag-unless youre keeping the airbag?
