Has anyone here with a 997 Turbo had a Tubi system fitted? Picked up my 997 T on Saturday and am planning to switch to a Tubi system next week. However, 2 OPC's and a few reports on US sites have indicated there may be/was a problem with the "Engine Check" warning light staying on Tubi'd 997 T's. Anyone here got one or know someone who has to confirm either way?

Thanks smile

Don't listen and put on the Tubi. Buy yourself the Durametric software and clear any codes that may come up yourself.

just put it on, they may just be trying to scam you out of money by making you think that the pse is the best option.

But there will be, no?

When OPC's spot an 'alien' exaust during a routine service etc does that not give them cause to snoop around for remaps and therefore invalidate your warranty? I would have thought that would be quite a money saving operation for them - therefore frightening punters into only going for official upgrades?

Just interested, as I'd like to look at options myself.

Cheers.
They didn't do one for the 996 Turbo...

Many on here have aftermarket exhausts on their 996TTs and have Porsche Warranties, with no issues being raised from their local OPCs.

OK sorry for being thick, so a PSE wasn't part of the X50? tumbleweed

And while I'm still being thick, could someone therefore explain exactly what the X50 was - I thought it was a option that you could have added after purchase, ie an official upgrade. Turbos, remap and exaust. Bit any info I've looked at implies a 'factory' upgrade, ie as a new car. So whats the spec of the "S" then?

Cheers

I had a Tubi fitted to my 997Turbo in Jan. No problems with lights initially. Then over the Easter wekend +2000 miles later the engine management light came on. Did't relate this to the Tubi so phoned Porsche assist. RAC guy came out, plugged in his laptop and it showed an out of range for CO on the left bank sensor. But was performing ok then? He reset the system and off he went. No problems for a month or so, then once again the light came on. Tried Porshe Assist again, but this time I was told to take it to the OPC as it was only an Orange warning and not detrimental or critical. Didn't want or need the hassle of explaining things at the OPC so spoke to an 'indy' (who fitted the system) and also to Manu at Scuderia. Intended to go to the garage at the weekend to hitch up to his laptop and check the codes. However after a few days just running around the light turned it self off! It would seem that ever so often the sensors pick up an out of range, and if the occurances aren't regular the computor resets it self. Bizarre or clever? Any way the lights not been on for a month or so now so seems ok. That said it's now bound to come on within the next few hours/days!
After I spoke to Manu, he enquired with Tubi and Champion in the US and a retro-fix has been made available. These are extensions that stand the sensors off the CAT. However I haven't bothered fitting them as it seems to sort itself out, plus it'll be a load of hassle to fit; exhaust off basically, new studs and fixings!
Apart from that though the Tubi does sound well and makes the car sound like it should. I did a sound clip on YouTube - search 997 Turbo Tubi.
Cheers

Thanks - Seen that clip a few times, mainly to watch the two on the verge turn round! and sound levels seem to be just right under acceleration, how is it at idle or low revs? Have you noticed any improvement in power delivery? Is there a remap on your car? Does the Tubi reduce back pressure somewhat?

Sh1t I've asked 4 questions in one sentence. Sorry.

At tickover & low revs sounds deeper with a nice rumble. At cruise it's fine with no resonance.
Car not been remapped.
Very difficult to say whether or not it gives more power - certainley sounds like a 100 hp more smile
It will have less back pressure - but no figures or claims made by Tubi, though I think they did used to quote +20 hp for the old 996 Turbo.
And yes - the couple do look slightly bemused!!! That was the third take on the roundabout!!

GPM3D, thanks for the info. I've decided to have the Tubi fitted next week and Manu at Scuderiasystems has said he will guarantee I will have no sensor issues. Maybe I should get it in writing.

fyi - when I had mine fitted (not a tubi, but same process) I had to have an 02 sensor replaced as I got the dreaded CEL about 5miles down the road after fitting. apparently the 02 sensors are very easily damaged. there are 4 sensors on the turbo, each side has one, pre/post cat.

but boy, is it worth it biggrin

ps. replacement sensor was about £75+fitting (about that again).
