968 heater control valve

So anyone on the m4 west of reading would of seen a caterham and my 968 on the hard shoulder .. and it was my car that was broken!! the embarresment!!!
Anyhow RAC man diagnosed it as the heater control valve. I need to get the car going asap .. a web page i found says
You can easily bypass it for a temporary fix. Disconnect the output hose from the valve and plug it into the fitting coming out of the block.
although this is for the 944 .. is it doable? will it work??
oh and if anyone has a soure for this part or even the PET part number id be grateful!!
