996tt nut sizes which hold the exhaust to the turbo's
Discussion
Hello
Why would you want to replace the nuts if the system is still sealed and not leaking ?
The size of nuts are M8 x 1.25mm (13mm spanner) there are 8 of them.
Be warned the nuts are extremly difficult to access properley and can snap the stud off in the turbo charger!! they are not a job for the diy person, they corrode away and you cannot really get a spanner on them, sometimes to access the top nut you need to remove rear bumper, heatshields and turbo intercoolers to get at them.
If all heatshields are ok and exhaust not leaking leave it alone....if heatshields have corroded get a porsche specialist to repair it rough idea of cost 50 pounds for shields 20 pounds for porsche nuts , you can use others...
5 hours labour plus any additional breakages....total guess 375 plus vat
hope this helps

thanks Mike,
I changed the exhaust myself over a month ago and the nearside turbo heatsheild needs replacing and I thought I would buy some stainless nuts and fit them at the same time.
I realise that changing the exhausts on these can be a pig, but careful does it removing the nuts with the right tools and no probs.
Cheers

A word of warning sideways, I replaced all the heatshield and exhaust securing nuts on my 993 RS during some routine work only to find most of them worked loose in a fairly short space of time. Not sure if this was due to them having different expansion rates when compared to the mild steel studs and fittings they were screwed onto ? I'd stick with the factory genuine parts rather than specifically going oout to buy stainless items.
