Looking at buying a 996 Turbo. Thought I wanted a tip but took a manual for a ride today and now think that maybe that is the way fwd. Sales guy was really good but obviously pushing the manual. Can I some some opinions on this please. I realise that it is personal preference and all that but I cant make up my mind!

thanks

Right!! .. Time to talk some sense into you!!

Why get a car with over 400bhp and let a bit of circuitry decide when the gear is going to get changed?
Why buy a drivers car and give a good portion of the driving experience away?
Why buy a car that some say has lost some of the delicacy of earlier incarnations , and then make a good and proper job of throwing that very delicacy of feel away?
Have you got a gamy left leg? biggrin

Go drive a tippy soon as possible and you'll have your answer.

You're a very lucky man to be able to afford one of the finest drivers cars on the planet.
Don't it up!!! hehe

I suspect that you have got to drive it and see what appeals to you. I don't think the tip is bad I have to say, but if you are putting in that amount of dosh you can't take a chance. By hook or crook you have to drive both.

There's 4 routes from work to the place my wife likes to call her house. biggrin

The quietest route is also the one with the most curves and corners.thumbup

I went through a similar conflict recently when buying a 996tt. Having tried both, I went for the manual and I was convinced a tip would suit me better, being on the "older" side of nuts.

Anyway, with a third gear like the TT has got, who needs a tip?
when you feel lazy, just stick it in third and sit back.
