964 C4 oil

Guys

i know this one has been done to death but can i have your recommendations please? i was convinced that a few weeks ago i bought some 10w 40 mobil 1 from halfords but it seems like they dont make it. could i have bought 0w 40 instead and if so, should i persist given that ive gotten through almost 1 litre in less than 1000 miles! cheers

Porsche tends to recommend very thin oils for their current cars - 0/40 or 5/40; I'm sticking with 15/50 for my 993.

Is the oil exiting through the exhaust or leaking out?
My 964 leaked a bit, so I use Mobil 1 racing which is thicker than standard 0-40 Mobil 1.

Are you looking to PHers to donate surplus oil as with the clay bar scenario?

I have some only slightly used you will need to collect it though.

Go with 15w/50; I find 0w/40 too thin for my 964.

It doesn't have to be Mobil 1 either :-)

I've been advised to use semi-synth in the 964.
Mobil 1 is pretty good at finding places to leak in older engines.

Thats what I use, too thin for 964s in Mobil 1

I used 0/40 Mobil 1 in my 964 for four years and never a leak - not a drop - in all that time.

JZM recomended casrol magnatec 10w40 to me for my rs track and road use,heads are not as wet as when 0w40 mobil 1 was in it
