'89 930 - A Viable Keeper?
Discussion
Am I right to think that a 5-speed (G 50)'89 911 Turbo is one hell of a fine car & that they currently represent great value?
I've never driven one so the opinions of owners & ex-owners would be much valued. Is the 965 3.3 worth the extra over an '89 930?
I love turbo cars & I especially love the way in which their performance doesn't really deteriorate with age & wear because the turbo (if maintained properly) will always deliver more mixture than the engine can handle.
I'm not one to spend crazy money on cars & I'd love to keep my 951 but add a "Classic" 911 to the stable - my budget will be near £20K which puts me into good 964 C2, '89 930, high mileage 993 territory - any advice. It's only the G50 930 which interests me. How do these cars compare - I'm after a "keeper" which has a bit of "classic" cred with enthusiasts.
I love the scene from "Spy Game" at the end of the movie when at the end of the last day of his CIA career, Robert Redford just gets into his old 911S & drives off down the autumnal forest road. I love the idea of an old classic as a daily driver.
I'm aware that many people find the N/A 911s to be a more satisfying drive, but I love turbo pork!

My one is a 87 black you should be able to find one at under £20K colour comes into it as well.Go for a stock one as well.
Good luck you will need it.
