If you look to the right of the dials (LHD car) its a button cunningly disguised as part of the air vent (same dash as late model 944 as far as I know)

You're right Andrew same on 968.....That has always been one of my favourite design features of the 944.It always makes me smile....sad I know!

Yeah, best feature. Loved it on my 944s.

You are looking for a small button that looks like a ribbed plastic vent slide button. Same height (midway) as the rest, to one side of the vents.

Don't push it while driving as it will brake the speedo!

Ahhhh I seeeee... who's the smart arse that decided to put it there then ?

This would also explain why I couldn't decipher it from the dash diagram in the manual. I was following the lines back from the various controls and reading the Dutch/French to see if I could work out what each one was. I must have just assumed this one was something to do with the ventilation controls.

About not resetting it whilst the car is moving. Will it actually break the speedo or the mile or trip odometer? Has anyone else encountered this?

I think the mile and trip odometer. My 968 had to have a new one fitted at 25,000 miles (previous owner) because of this.

Oops - I did this a few weeks ago, still works though. Thanks for the tip, I won't be doing that again!

yep I know two 944's that broke the tripmeter because of resetting on the move. Best not to risk it

I nearly did it again today! Filled up with fuel ready for the Dorset Dawdle and forgot to reset the odometer, just managed to stop myself pressing the button
