Smokey Start-up - normal?
Discussion
Hi all, Im new to the forum. I have a new cayman 6 and sometimes after sitting overnight or after being left a couple of hours then re-started I get a huge initial cloud of blus smoke.
It quickly clears and the car runs fine and its not spitting piston rings but it is still a bit daunting as the car is only on 3k miles.
I just wondered if this is considered normal or if anyone else has experienced this?
It seems to happen more if the car has been driven hard just before being put to bed. Thanks in advance

Perfectly normal it seems, doesn't look good but a characteristic of the flat boxer engine.
Oil can seep along the bores and depending on ring groove position, runs into the combustion chamber when the engine is not running, hence the smoke on start up.
It does make sense I guess so just have to live with it I'm afraid.

Can't answer the tech question, but if the problem persists you could always sell the car and buy a Sagaris......
I would but my mechanic is getting on a bit and his back hurts from the times he used to spend on standby in the boot of my old ferrari everytime I went for out for a run.
