997 GT2 Performance figure 0-100mph in 7.5 secs

Looking at these rumoured asub 8 sec figures coming out from Porsche on the new GT2 ( with launch control )

What other cars are in the sub 8 second bracket ?

Porsche 997 Turbo ?
Carrera GT ?
Lamborghini Murchi ?
Catherham R500 ?
997 GT3 RS ?
McLaren F1 ?
Audi R8 ?
BMW CSL ?

The CSL definitely won't do it! I'm pretty sure it would be impossible in the GT3 RS and the R8 too.

I would say road condition and driver for any of those cars would play a big part in a sub 8 secs. No way the CSL would do that with anyone behind the wheel! and as said, probably not the R8 or GT3 too. Launch control would obviously get rid of the driver ability part of the equation

Carrera GT is supposed to be 7.6, I do think the Cerbera 4.5 was meant to be able to do it in 7.8, never timed it, but believable given a decent start.

Remember for all the hype the R8 "only" has the RS4 engine, so its not going to be anywhere near 8secs or under, if I remember reading evo recently it was well over 10 secs.

I seem to recall a Noble M400 with a few tweaks (like Jousts) was around the 8 second mark.

Anything sub 10 seconds is a seriously rapid car

Sagaris is "around" 8secs. I say around because it depends entirely on what box and diff you happen to have fitted.

Either way, anything around 8secs is definately in the "quick enough" catagory for me.

I was under the impression Porsche were alway quite conservatiove with their claims so surely this will be possbile ,if so ,fair play to them i mean hell , its just plain rapid!

lol, It's Marks, I spoke to him last week and he thinks he will get into low 9's, I think he will be aiming for a high 8, the car is insane. He has burnt the clutch, trashed driveshafts etc. I take my hat of to him, completely committed, and he has spent fortunes getting there, but he can turn around and say he has one of the fastest Porkers in the world.

Corvette C6 Z06 does it.

I'd be amazed if a standard Cerb ever made it under 8... A `special` 4.5 for the event putting out a genuine 420bhp perhaps. But how many of them did that out the factory?

Standard GT3 - nope. In the 8's for the latest one i expect.

M3 CSL - not a chance in hell.

I was surprised that in the recent GTPP test the GT3 failed to make the Porsche claimed figures for 0-6- and 0-100; as has been said Porsche are normally conservative in their on paper power and performance stats; perhaps it was the conditions/driver

Bluto ,have nt timed anything but spools up very fast on kk 24 s , has 996 cup dif to get it planted off the line , clubsport does nt weigh much !..........went pretty well at The Silverstone Regatta last Tuesday!
