Guys,

Has anyone gone for either the "Carbon interior package" or indeed "Extended trim package in carbon" on theri Gt3 or RS? What do you think?

What does it include and is it worth putting on?? Gilding the Lilly perhaps? I'm in two minds about the carbon gear knob, whihc I think is included with one of the packs - on one hand (sic)it will give inferior purchase on the gearshift - but on the other it won't look worn or greasy (as Alcantara can sometimes get after use) after a while?

I opted against the carbon purely on the grounds you mention - the alcantara gear stick is fantastic(had one in my old 997gt3cs) and as the gear change is over stiff, especially when cold I chose to go without it. I then spoke to parts, they suggested go for the factory fitted kit then pay a whopping 600pounds for the alcantara gear knob when the car arrives - I declined.......

The carbon tunnel is nice but again for me too expensive... but then again I went for full leather - horses for courses

I went for the small carbon pack and think it look/feels good and breaks up the alcantara a bit, the handbrake also has the GT3 logo on it.
Each to their own but I like it.

Angel,

So which bits do you actually get carbon on the small kit?

The small pack consists of : gearnob, handbrake, and carbon strip along top of glove box with cupholders, and that's it basically.

thought it was all too expensive to be honest although I would have had it if I wanted.
I just went for the carbon door sill protectord coz I thought they would look good even though I aint seen any.
I went for orange centre console as I thought it looked more like a stripped out racer with the body colour inside.

I just went carbon entry sills and back centre console.....They look good against the carbon backes on the seats.

By all accounts the full carbon kit looks Leo Gemelli to the Pepsi.

If you go on the Porsche configurator youcan see it.

Eh?????? Lost me there!

I've gone (so far!) for Carbon Door entry guards, Rear Centre console Painted BODY colour (Green!) and for the small carbon kit (small part on dash, Handbrake and Gearshift) as I have heard of guys with early GT3's now having to buy new Alcantara gearlever covers!

Got until Monday a.m to make any "small" changes to the spec!

if its a RS why all the bits of fancy trim - porsche has spent hours taking bits off for you to put them back on....go agressive with RS "fire proof trim (Standard) and full cage"

Yeah agree - I have! The painted rear centre console is lighter than the "soft touch" palstic covered version! The other bits are negligible and are basically a nod to practicality - Really the only "extra" bit I'm adding is the carbon gearknob - guess the weight difference will be negligible.

Must admit - I didn't tick the box for Aircon Delete (which would have saved 20kg or so!) - assuming most people don't!

Just spend £60 on a decent pair of driving gloves with suede or alcantara on the palms

Mine is September build and in past experience that can sometimes include the last weeks in August - depending when factory gets back from their jollies and starts the new model year - so I might see it any time from the start of September through to early October.

Which OPC you getting yours from?

My dealer wont give me a date, they have said provisionally November, but I reckon it will be before, especially if the last ones are being built September.

If you were worried about that I doubt you would buy a bright green car with a massive wing in the first place!

I got rather excited when ordering options, got a seemingly rather common orange one comming in November (told one of the last to be built) so couldn't decide on extras so went for near enough everthing..Full carbon was however at the top of my list. Also have a few options regarding leather and carbon which aren't shown in brochure or configurator. Saw an RS in Germany with full leather/carbon package and it looked and smelt so much better!!

My car is a very vague Oct/Nov delivery, possibly not worth putting on road until Jan 08 but I couldn't stand leaving the car hanging around at dealership, too many people wanting to sit in it and getting salesman to fire it up and give it some to hear the engine note... Just like I got them to a few months ago...
