997 what a load of.........
Discussion
smiles its brought to my face since picking it up from Porsche Centre Mid-sussex at Burgess Hill on friday morning.
Over the months I have read with interest comment made on the 997 C2S range but thought the differences between this and my then car a 996 C4S would only be cosmetic with a little more power.
HOW WRONG WAS I, what an amazing car in all areas, the car simply feels half the weight with endless power and a fantastic interior with easy to control functions, I also found a colour combo that I fell hook-line and sinker for which is Atlas grey with Sand Leather not everyones taste I know but I wanted not to like it but it just made me smile when I first set eyes on it and does the same when I drive it, a little retro I think along with cheerful brightness!!!
Lastly I would like to thank all involved with my purchase at OPC mid-sussex
and would highly recommend them for there friendly service and the ability to have a deal with a very big THANK YOU.

Good for you mate..Ive got a red 2s with black interior/wheels..love it!
All I will say is if you think your car is special now, take it on the Autobahn in Germany. I blasted down to Berlin for the Genesis gig, out of this world..cruise at 140..150 all day, and hit 175..180 in places traffic permitting, with power left to go. Ime sure given the right conditions these cars will hit 190 easy!!
You have bought a fantastic car..ENJOY!

the sport setup button is useful I bet on the track. Have you got a Sports exhaust on yours? Im going to order one but wondered if it will be switchable or on all the time. Anyone know?

Fantastic. This is what you like to hear. A happy Porsche owner.
You think that there is that much difference between a 996 and a 997? Worrying as I was thinking of trying to buy a 996 C2 to tide me through the current period of austerity. Is it possible that the C2 is also a lot nimbler than the C4, which has to be heavier?

Yeah very nice car Steve and yes the sports button does make quite a difference on track days! A few customers have the car and really like it, quite a good compromise for track day and road use in their opinion and I can say that it does go well round the track!!
I was about to say, lucky you didn't end up like the gumballer taking a photo while doing 190mph, luckily it was your friend taking it, so a bit of common sense from you at least
Cardigan, yes there is a HUGE difference between the 996 and 997 on track, the 997 is much more like a race car, stiffer, more stable and well balanced, really can't compare the two on track.

Yeap ive got the sports exhaust, and you can switch it on/off in the cabin. I didnt opt for the alarm clock on the dash though I just didnt like the look of a clock sat on my dash. That said the car has a button that stiffens the ride up some what, and makes the car feel much more stiff/harder ride, but only use it on smooth roads..or on the track which I dont really bother with. For me the pleasure is the open road, and especially in Europe. The though of going round and round on a track doesnt really float my boat..unless your racing that is!9hellheaven said:

I learnt a lot about the car in Germany and what it can do, and for me the 997 2s is just perfect..To sum up a fast, spirited ride in total comfort..what more do you need. While this car is my fun/pleasure vehicle and not my main everyday I intend to keep it long term and pile the miles on with long Euro hoons at least 2 or 3 per year. May blast down to the factory in September..Happy days!

I've not got the chrono pack either but I do want a sports exhaust put on it,but I don't no if they would install the button as well to make it switchable. I would'nt want the thing on all the time I don't think

Usually the cost of the retro-fit PSE (circa £1,600) includes the switch !!
