Went to have a look at it when it first went on sale a couple of months ago (at the same price) - didn't buy it then due to price, nearly went back a few weeks ago, but I've found something better now.

However, it is a nice car, looks like all original panels and paint. There are a couple of rust spots (windscreen scuttle), and non-original wheels, but otherwise pretty good. There's a thread about it on the PCGB 964RS forum - http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=281582

Could someone please explain the logic behind the seller's remark: "There is a small scuff on the lower corner of the front bumper, which I haven't had painted as I wanted to keep the car original."

This is the sort of thinking you come across in the museum world, when talking about whether to polish off the patina on a rare bronze. This is a car, for Heaven's sake! If the seller is looking to put the car into a museum, he might have a case. If not, surely the first thing any sensible buyer would do is get the paintwork up to decent condition - and negotiate a price decrease for the faults? Or is there a special category of 'sensible buyer' for LHD 964 RS cars?

His reasoning is probably more to do with, If I paint it someone may get suspisious and think it's major.

Oh its the playing it up game..you know rare as hens teeth and all that so dont want to spoil the original scratches!..
While the RS range of cars are nice I wouldnt put them in the bracket that declares them to be " rare " and as such "very desirable" and as such cost a packet. The fact is would you pay 50k for a stripped out 964 with a bit more power and a few tweeks?? Thats the real world facts, anything else is hype. Just my thoughts.

Rare, come on guys they did make 2050 ish 964RS, how many are left is another matter wink
Now the prices are going higher, a few cars seem to be coming out of the woodwork and on to the market.
I would suggest cars are valued on individual inspection rather than a generic price for all 964RS, sounds obvious and logical, but sometimes the internet can be far from that wink

exactly. and that's fair enough. you go and check it over decide whether you like the look of it... buy it and do the paint. or not. but as you say at least it makes it clear that it was just caught when leaving the garage or something.. rather than potentially being frontended!

To Answer your question Sambaman....from what I see the car seems fairly straight, not driven it or inspected the car but, other than forking out £3000 for a decents et of 2nd Hand Mags I would be bidding 42K great colour low klms, have it inspedted and see you at Silverstone

hmm for £42K you could just about persuade me to part with my Mk1 GT3.
Original condition of course, less miles and a better colour
